How to Resolve Kobelco Excavator Z010 Error Code: A Simple Guide
Are you struggling with the persistent Z010 error code on your Kobelco excavator? This common alarm often occurs during engine shutdown, causing frustration and unnecessary downtime. In this guide, we provide a cost-effective, step-by-step method to handle the Z010 alarm, including the wire-cutting technique used by professionals.

What is the Z010 Error Code?
The Z010 error code indicates that the common rail pressure drops too quickly during the moment of engine shutdown. Essentially, the system cannot maintain the required rail pressure when the engine cuts off, triggering the alarm.
Common Causes
While there are several potential reasons for this alarm, the most common one is wear on the fuel injector nozzles, which prevents the system from holding pressure at the exact moment of shutdown. Other causes may include:
High water content in the diesel fuel.
Issues with the common rail pressure relief valve.
Problems with the fuel pump.
Engine idle speed settings.
How to Fix/Silence the Z010 Alarm (Without Spending Money)
If your machine's performance is not affected, you can manage this alarm with these methods.
Method 1: The Wire-Cutting Technique (Recommended)
This is the direct approach to stop the alarm permanently by disconnecting specific wires on the small ECU (Engine Control Unit) board.
这是一种一劳永逸的方法,通过断开小电脑板上的特定线路来彻底消除警报。
Locate the small ECU: Open the cab and identify the small ECU board on the side of the main CPU unit.
Access the Connector: Locate the harness connector on the bottom of the small ECU (there are 5 connectors in total).
Identify the Wires: Following the circuit diagram, locate wires 65 and 212.
Pro Tip: Counting from the inside to the outside, identify pins 21 and 22 on the connector.
Disconnect and Protect: Unplug the connector, cut the wires corresponding to pins 21 and 22, and insulate/wrap them carefully to prevent short-circuiting against the chassis.

Method 2: Idle Adjustment
Sometimes, simply changing your shutdown routine can prevent the error. When the machine is at a higher RPM (around 1400–1500 RPM) before shutting down, the pressure is more stable.
Let the engine idle for a few minutes before shutting it down.
Some users find that increasing the throttle slightly before killing the engine prevents the Z010 code from appearing.
Important Note: While these methods silence the alarm, they do not repair the root cause (such as worn fuel injectors). If you notice a decline in your excavator's performance, it is highly recommended to consult a qualified mechanic for professional repair.
