How to Fix Kobelco 8 Series I113 Alarm | Full Troubleshooting

Overview

I113 fault code is a common electrical fault on Kobelco 8-series excavators. This fault appears in two different situations, requiring different inspection methods:

  • I113 + Engine cannot start → Check Fuse 5 + Injector wiring short

  • I113 + Machine works normally → Check CPU-ECU communication + CNT-1 plug

Situation 1: I113 Alarm + Engine Cannot Start

Cause: Fuse 5 blown / Injector wiring short / ECU error

  1. Open the fuse box and check fuse No.5

  2. If fuse 5 is blown, do NOT replace directly — check for short circuit first

  3. Measure voltage of injector wiring from ECU

  4. If voltage exceeds 14V → wiring short or ECU damaged

  5. Repair damaged wiring or replace faulty ECU

Important Warning:
Never replace a blown fuse without checking the short circuit. It will burn the ECU immediately.

Situation 2: I113 Alarm + Machine Works Normally

Cause: CPU–ECU communication error / CNT‑1 plug loose

  1. I113 appears but engine starts and runs normally

  2. Root cause: communication error between CPU and ECU

  3. Find the CNT-1 plug inside the cab

  4. Check if plug is loose, corroded, or wiring damaged

  5. Replug, clean pins or repair wiring — I113 will disappear

Final Conclusion

  1. I113 + NO START → Check Fuse 5 + injector wiring short

  2. I113 + NORMAL WORK → Check CNT-1 plug communication

  3. Always check short circuit before replacing fuse
