How to Resolve Kobelco 8 Series Excavator Hydraulic Pump High Pressure Seonsor Alarm (C012/C013/C014/C022/C023/C024)

1. Fault Code Corresponding to High Pressure Sensor

The high pressure sensors of the hydraulic pump are divided into two positions, and different fault codes

will be reported for faults in different positions:

P1 Pump High Pressure Sensor Fault Code

C012:  Abnormal output.

C013: Open circuit.

C014: Short circuit

P2 Pump High Pressure Sensor Fault Code

C022: Abnormal output.

C023: Open circuit.

C024: Short circuit

2. Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for C023 Alarm

Take the common C023 alarm of the external hydraulic pump as an example, the troubleshooting is carried

out in the following order:

1.Check the plug and wiring harness for physical damage

First, observe whether the plug wire of the external high pressure sensor has peeling, short circuit or breakage;

check whether the pins of the plug are loose.

The wiring harness under the hydraulic pump is prone to oil leakage and high temperature aging, so it is necessary

to peel off the harness for careful inspection

2.Judge the sensor fault by swapping plugs

The most effective way to check the high pressure sensor is plug swapping inspection. If swapping the plugs

eliminates the C023 alarm and triggers the C013 alarm instead, it is confirmed that the C023 high pressure sensor

itself is faulty and needs to be replaced(YN52S00103P1 High Pressure Sensor).

If the C023 alarm still exists after swapping the plugs, the sensor is normal, and the fault lies in the wiring harness

or the main control board.

3.Multimeter measurement to check the wiring harness

If the sensor is normal, use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the wiring harness (the original vehicle wiring has

fixed color coding, follow the original color for measurement):

Normal voltage standard: The red wire is the +5V power supply, the gray wire is the ground wire, and the normal 5V

voltage can be measured between the two;

the blue wire is the feedback wire, and the voltage measured between the blue wire and the 5V power supply is about

4.5V (lower than 5V), which is normal.

Sensor feedback voltage standard: The standard voltage of the sensor feedback to the main control board measured

between the two corresponding terminals is about 0.47V (this value is the key to judging the sensor's working state).

Abnormal output alarm trigger: If the feedback voltage exceeds 1.4V, the excavator will trigger the C022 abnormal

output alarm.

4.Wiring sequence and on-off detection

If the plug is replaced, the wiring color sequence must not be wrong (follow the original vehicle's wiring color standard).

If the wiring harness is suspected to be faulty, the pin on the main control board side needs to be tested for on-off with

multimeter (note: the plug of the main control board must be pulled out before measurement). The sensor wiring

corresponds to the third plug of the main control board, and the wiring is connected according to the marked number

on the board.

3. Final Fault Judgment

If the normal voltage cannot be measured even after the wiring harness is reconnected and all the above inspection steps

are completed, it can be directly determined that the main control board of the excavator is faulty and needs to

be repaired or replaced
