Kobelco -10 Series Arm Retract Slow & Weak: Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
When your Kobelco -10 series excavator experiences slow arm retraction, lack of power, or hesitation during operation, don't panic! Most issues originate from specific electrical sensors, solenoid valves, or mechanical spools. Follow this step-by-step diagnostic guide to pinpoint and fix the fault.
Step 1: Check C-2 Pump Pressure Data on the Monitor
Hold the buzzer button and turn on the ignition key. Navigate to Page 6 on the -10 series monitor.
2. Inspect the C-2 PUMP 2 pressure reading when the engine is NOT started.
3. If it reads 0.0M, the high-pressure sensor is operating normally. If it shows high pressure without starting (e.g., 5.X or 8.X), replace the high-pressure sensor first.
Step 2: Inspect Arm 2-Speed Solenoid Valve & Current Values
If the pressure sensor is fine, check the Arm 2-Speed Solenoid Valve (located as the last solenoid in the valve bank).
1. Navigate to Page 7 on the monitor to check the D-6 ARM IN-2-SPEED current value.
2. Standard values at full throttle: ~400mA during arm retraction, and ~200mA when the arm is under relief status.
3. If the current value is abnormal, replace the Arm 2-Speed Solenoid Valve (Part No.: 40C50). Always choose genuine parts for durability.

Step 3: Check Arm 2-Speed Valve Spool on Main Control Valve
If both the sensor and current readings are normal, inspect the Arm 2-Speed Valve Spool located on the main control valve bank.
Remove the valve cover, extract the spool rod, and check for signs of wear, scoring, or sticking. If the spool is worn or sticking, repair or replace the main control valve assembly.
